Ms. Sonya R. Wilson-Jackson - Wesley’s 2011 Teacher of the Year
"To reach a child's mind, one must first capture his heart."
“My 16 year journey in education has been a fabulous ride! Investing in children's futures has produced dividends too numerous to count. Being and educator of excellence is unique and challenging, yet vibrant and beautiful. It's a statue of patience, resilience, and creativity. As a teacher, I possess the keys that unlock the doors to the successes and treasures discovered in learning; it is an awesome yet daunting task. I understand that my role as the teacher, facilitator, and stimulator means that I must be one who challenges my students, yet narrows the gap between failure and success. I believe to capture the heart and mind of a student, one must educate, motivate, and inspire students to value lifelong learning. As an educator, bringing that desire for knowledge to life is both satisfying and addictive!”
