G/T Professional Development
Teachers who provide instruction and services as part of the G/T program must complete a minimum of thirty hours of professional development, including nature and needs of gifted and talented students, assessing student needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted students. Teachers without the required training who currently provide instruction and services that are part of the G/T program must complete the thirty-hour training within one semester. Teachers who have completed the initial 30-hour requirement and continue provide G/T instruction must complete a minimum of six hours of professional development in gifted education annually.
Non-Negotiables for G/T Students
• G/T modifications on lesson plans
• One activity emphasizing higher order thinking skills will be given to coordinator to place in G/T student’s folder each nine weeks
• One science project for each G/T student
A G/T Protocol form may be used to provide feedback to teachers providing G/T instruction.
